About 

Hi I'm Jenny Nelson. I'm a painter and arts educator. Most days you will find me in my studio mixing paint, applying paint and scraping paint away. Layering, searching and responding to the magic alchemy of pigments on canvas. 

In addition to painting I also maintain an observational drawing practice. Drawing from life adds structure and organization to my work. Marks and lines become ingrained in my head and hand, adding space, depth and energy to my paintings. 

As a teacher, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching thousands of students through my in-person workshops and online courses. Exploring composition, shape relationships, color harmonies, master works and effective studio practices. I help other artists break through creative and technical barriers so they can advance their painting and connect more deeply to the joy of their craft. My blog allows me to share my thoughts on a variety of subjects that are exciting and relevant to the painting process.
